Improving Retention and Graduation Using Three Types of Analysis

  • Use information known about students from the admissions process to:
    • Identify students at risk of not returning their sophomore year to enable early intervention
    • Identify areas where improved effectiveness may improve retention
  • Use information from students’ 1st year similarly to:
    • Identify sophomores at risk of not returning their junior year to enable early intervention
    • Identify areas where improved 1st year effectiveness may improve retention
  • Factor Analysis - Assess stakeholders' perceived importance of and performance in 12 areas known to be associated with retention to identify areaswhere improvements may increase retention
